SmartGene
Technology2 platforms

We Built the Technology That Builds Our Pipelines.

Our own cell line platform addresses speed, productivity, cost and CMC risk together. What a partner takes on is not a research-stage construct but a stable, high-expressing cell line ready for transfer.

Platforms

Two platforms, developed in-house and used on our own programmes before they were offered to anyone else.

CHO-Speed™Rapid Stable Cell Line Platform
Our own rapid stable cell line platform. Transposon-based targeted gene integration yields high-titre stable pools and monoclonal lines, reaching a research cell bank (RCB) quickly.
SGTNase™In-House Transposase Variant
The engine inside CHO-Speed™. Hot-spot targeted insertion gives high integration efficiency and long-term passage stability, which keeps CDMO tech transfer smooth.

Species-specific redesign

Targets validated in humans, redesigned for companion species.

The parts that bind the target stay as they are; everything else is swapped to canine or feline sequence. Antibodies keep their CDRs while the frameworks and constant regions change; Fc-fusion proteins keep the target-binding peptide and change only the Fc. The same logic carries across all five programmes.

Fig. 1
Human-validated antibodies and Fc-fusion proteins redesigned with canine and feline sequence, retaining the target-binding regions
Fig. 1. How human-validated antibodies and Fc-fusion proteins are caninized and felinized - the target-binding regions are retained and only the remaining domains are swapped to species sequence.
Fig. 2
SGTNase mechanism: recognition and binding, excision, genomic integration
Fig. 2. SGTNase™ transposase recognises the ITR sequences flanking the gene-of-interest cassette, excises it from the transposon vector, and integrates it stably into the CHO genome.

CHO-Speed workflow: gene design, vector cloning, transfection with SGTNase, selection and screening, research cell bank

Established Quickly, Expressed Highly, Held Stable.

  • High Expression

Productivity has been demonstrated in both monoclonal antibodies and fusion proteins.

  • Speed

The platform reaches a research cell bank (RCB) quickly, starting from gene design.

  • Stability

Clonal consistency and genetic stability hold over long-term passage.

Speed, Cost, CMC and Scale

Speed

SGTNase™ hot-spot targeted insertion shortens the path to a research cell bank.

Cost

Development-stage cost of goods falls substantially against a global CDMO.

CMC

Long-term stability and clonal consistency make CDMO tech transfer straightforward.

Scale

On the same platform only the caninized or felinized sequence changes, so value compounds with each added programme.

Intellectual Property

Two core platform patents are held, covering CHO-Speed™ and SGTNase™. Detailed sequence and design information is provided under an executed CDA.

CHO-Speed™ cell line development is also offered as a service to third parties. See CRO Services
